Starting from the Town Hall, we shall make our way into Queens Park before passing by the remains of an historic cannon ball making foundry. We then follow the line of the River Hipper through what was an industrial part of town with a rich and varied history. Passing Walton Dam, we’ll carry on to Somersall Hall for the turn north to brookside and the open countryside to the west of town. We will stop here for coffee or tea. Following field paths, we pass by Old Brampton Church, with its strange clock, before carrying on to the extensive reservoirs at Linacre. A leisurely lunch will be taken shortly after leaving the reservoirs before we proceed to Cutthorpe Hall; like many of the halls around the area Cutthorpe has an interesting and varied history. We shall now turn south east towards Holmebrook Valley Park and use the paths through the park to return to the outskirts of our town predominantly walking alongside Holmebrook for the remainder of the journey back to the Town Hall.
