The Pomegranate Theatre was originally built in 1879, and the Winding Wheel Theatre was built in 1923. Both of these historic buildings are Grade II Listed, and they require considerable capital investment.
The Chesterfield Theatres Restoration Fund was first introduced in February 2014 as a way of putting money aside to fund major capital projects and improvements at the Pomegranate Theatre and Winding Wheel Theatre.
We want to ensure that we use the fund to protect the theatres for future generations, as well as making enhancements that our current audiences can enjoy now.
How do I donate to the Restoration Fund?
Currently, £1.50 from each ticket purchased from the Chesterfield Theatres box office for professional live theatre events goes directly into the fund. In addition, when booking tickets, customers now have the option of making a further voluntary donation to the fund.

How does the money get spent?
The money is protected which means that it will not be absorbed into the wider council’s budget and it will only be spent on making improvements and safeguarding the future of the Pomegranate Theatre and Winding Wheel Theatre.
What is the Restoration Fund spent on?
To ensure a larger impact, the Restoration Fund is usually saved and spent on large scale projects such as the ones you can read about on the improving our theatres webpage. We are currently developing plans for improving the facilities and the customer experience at the Pomegranate Theatre.
